Dubai’s Blue and Golden Visas Offer Two 10-Year Pathways for Global Talent
Dubai contrasts its flagship residency programs: the well-established Golden Visa for investors and professionals, and the new Blue Visa for environmental innovators, both offering renewable 10-year residency.

Dubai’s long-term residency toolbox is evolving. The emirate now features two flagship programs: the Golden Visa, familiar to investors, and the newer Blue Visa aimed at sustainability champions. While both grant 10-year residency, they serve different strategic goals. The Golden Visa anchors capital and expertise through real-estate investment (min. AED 2 million) or high-salary employment (AED 30,000+).
The Blue Visa, launched following COP28, supports the UAE’s Net-Zero 2050 agenda. It targets eco-startup founders, NGO leaders, and award-winning scientists. Unlike the Golden Visa, there is no fixed salary threshold; eligibility is based on proven environmental impact. Blue Visa holders may also receive priority access to government-backed green-tech incubators.
